Ruth E. Carroll

Ruth E. Carroll, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at St. Francis Home.

She was born June 8, 1935, in Seneca County, to Buford and Anna (Slater) Rakes. She married Loran Carroll and they later divorced.

She is survived by her sons, Michael (Donna) Carroll of Fort Worth, Texas, and Dave (Michelle) Carroll of Frisco, Texas; daughter, Lori (Mike) Lenhoff of Tiffin; son-in-law, Todd Atkin of Woodville; brothers, Dallas Rakes of Clyde, Gilbert Rakes of Fremont, and Neil (Cheryl) Rakes of Thornton, Colorado; sister, Carol (Mike) Lieske of Green Springs; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Christine Atkin; and sister, Gretta Rakes.

Ruth was a graduate of Clyde High School and attended Kent State University. She worked at Kessler Sales in Fremont and later at Green Springs Nursery. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, an avid reader, loved going to garage sales, shopping, traveling to see family, baking apple dumplings, and enjoyed many years with her friend, Bill.

Ruth's funeral will be 12 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, 2024, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Pastor Barb Osborn officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde.

Visitation for friends and family will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
