Sally Gronner Obituary

Sally B. Gronner

Sally B. Gronner, 68, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, Sept. 24, 2023, at Boca Raton Regional Hospital, Florida. Her husband, Mark Gronner, daughter, Jane Kaye, and son-in-law, Jon Kaye, were at her side.

Sally was extremely active and devoted to her family. She made friends wherever she went. She will be remembered for her selfless acts of kindness to neighbors and her love of life and people. Sally embraced being a wife, mother, and grandmother, and she was dedicated to her parents, Dorothy and Don Bero, into their late senior years until their deaths in 2018.

Sally will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 40 years, Mark Gronner; daughter, Jane (Jon) Kaye; grandson, Jackson Kaye; sister, Nancy (Jim) Petro; nephew, John (Emily) Petro; niece, Corbin (Jessica) Petro-Gelman; four great-nephews; one great-niece; and relatives and friends.

Sally was born Dec. 21, 1954, in Tiffin. She was a graduate of Columbian High School and Findlay College. She worked as a flight attendant, sales representative for a technology company, and in fundraising at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland where she met her husband, Mark.

She and Mark lived in many places including Cleveland, New York City, Southampton, and most recently Boca Raton, but Sally had a special place in her heart for Tiffin, where she was raised. While visiting her parents in Tiffin in the summer for weeks at a time, she renewed lifelong friendships and made new ones while walking her beloved dogs.

A champion of animals, Sally's pets, recently three dogs, Nicholas, Giorgio, and Pierre, and cat, Missy, seemingly won the pet lottery with Sally's dedicated care and frequent dog walks. Sally and Mark fed feral cats in Southampton and never ignored an abused animal. Sally always found a way to get care for injured animals.

A collector of antiques, Sally attended house sales in Cleveland and had a talent for beautifully transforming her homes with her collections and excellent taste. She and Mark enjoyed travel, particularly in Kennebunkport, Maine, Palm Beach, Florida, and western Europe.

Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin. Sally's celebration of life will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Old Trinity Episcopal Church, 125 E. Market Street, Tiffin, with Fr. Aaron Gerlach officiating. Friends are invited to attend either or both gatherings.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations made in Sally's memory to Autism Speaks, P.O. Box 37148, Boone, Iowa, 50037, or University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, Medical Development, Division of Development and Alumni Relations, Attention: Shelly Friedman, 1501 NW 9th Avenue, 2nd Floor, Miami, Florida, 33136. God often blesses our lives with special friends. Sally was one of those special people who graced my life as we shared our college experience at Findlay College (now Findlay University) together. I remember a strong, determined, classy, fresh, bright, and positive young woman who made me smile. I'm saddened today to have heard of her family's loss. Mr. & Mrs. Bero were so generous and kind to me when I knew the family in the mid to late 70's. The Bero family left a permanent impression on me of how to live life to the fullest with consideration to others and class in everything that's done. What an amazing family. Condolences to Sally's family and friends for their tremendous loss. Prayers today and always.

Nancy.....
I´m so sad thinking that you´ve lost your sister.
Much too soon and hard to believe.
I remember her as we grew up and at Columbian and especially as neighbors. We were so lucky to know your family so well. May she now be comforted and at peace reunited with your mom and dad and those who have gone before her. My deepest condolences to Mark and Jane and the rest of the family.

Nancy, I was so sorry to hear about Sally. She was a darling child. I was home and attending my 55th class reunion when I heard someone talking about Sally. I grew up in the neighborhood with Carolyn Good and I lived right beside your house. I remember your mother and father being great people. I remember you loved Elvis. I remembered little Sally.
