1830 Sierra Gardens Dr.
Roseville, California
Carole Ann Raine entered her final rest peacefully on Tuesday, August 26th, with her devoted husband of 65 years, George Raine, by her side. She is survived by her six loving children, Mark Christopher Raine, Cathy Raine Catlin and her husband Jubal Catlin, Margo Raine, Ruth Raine, David Raine, and Paul Raine and his wife Maggie.
She also leaves her well loved granddaughter Rachel Catlin Darling, and her husband Jonathan Darling, and their children Jonah, Brennen, and Ever, and her great granddaughter Sarah Haller. The young crowd called her GG and she was much loved.
She also leaves her beloved niece Andrea Gross and her family, her dear brother in law, Terry Raine, her dear niece Heather King and her family, and many friends.
Other family members important in her life who passed on before her were her beloved brother, Dr. Paul Gross, and his wife Dorle Gross, her parents, Lillian Sorini Gross, and Kurt Gross, her brother-in-law, Steve Pizzo, and too many others to name.
Carole grew up in Oakland California, and attended San Jose State College, where she met her husband George.
Carole was the cat whisperer; through the years, any stray cat in the neighborhood could find their way into her backyard to find food and love. We took bets on how long it would take for them to be invited into the house. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Parish for over half a century, a long time volunteer at the North Highlands Library, and a member of the Carmichael Cactus and Succulent Society. She made many life long friends in these places.
An avid gardener, with the best spaghetti sauce recipe, handed down to her and forwarded to us, Carole Ann Raine was loved and will be missed.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, September 19th at 10:30 am at Saint Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church, 4325 Don Julio Blvd, North Highlands, CA 95660. The mass will be proceeded by the Rosary at 10 am.
