Susan Louise Melter

Susan Louise Melter, 85, of Tiffin, died at 11:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2023, at Valley View Health Campus, Fremont.

She was born June 27, 1938, in Cincinnati, to John and Louise (Hauschildt) Werner. She married the Rev. James C.F. Melter on June 8, 1963, in Cincinnati, and he died March 18, 2016.

Susan's survivors include a son, Glenn (Denise) Melter of Woodville; daughter, Laura (Jerome) Miller of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, D.J. and Emma Rose Melter, Kris (Kenny) Miller, Kurtis (Angel) Miller, Hannah Miller, Rachel (Corinthian) Ulmer, and Seth James Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Alivia, Kasey, and Alyssa Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband.

Susan was a graduate of Hughes High School in Cincinnati. She was a 1959 graduate of Deaconess Nursing School, Cincinnati. She was a licensed registered nurse for over 50 years. She taught operating room nursing at Deaconess Hospital, Cincinnati, and then worked and taught at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She later worked at Lancaster Hospital in Ohio and the last 25 years of her career was spent as a R.N. at various nursing homes. Susan found much joy and happiness following her grandchildren to all of their various activities. She was their No. 1 fan. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. She loved being a minister's wife and all that it entailed.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2023, and 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, until the time of Susan's funeral at 11 a.m., all at TRAUNERO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, (419) 447-3113. The Rev. Jill Dunlap will officiate. Burial will immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Tiffin.
