Theodore J. "TJ" Chmielewski

Theodore J. "TJ" Chmielewski, 74, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.

TJ was born April 11, 1949, in Toledo, to Theodore and Josephine Ann (McCarthy) Chmielewski.

TJ's survivors include a brother, Dr. Terrance Chmielewski of Las Vegas, Nevada; sister, Mary Jo Samples of Detroit, Michigan; three nieces, Kelly Delvaux of Toledo, Kathleen Rouse of Toledo, and Sarah Chmielewski-Sotgiu of New Jersey; and three nephews, Kerry "Bear" Rouse of Toledo, Matthew Chmielewski of Minnesota, and Paul Chmielewski of Minnesota.

TJ grew up in the Boy Scouts and received the Eagle Scout Award. In school, TJ received some awards for his essays and writings. TJ graduated from Central Catholic School in Toledo in 1967. He received a Bachelor Degree in Education from University of Toledo. He attended Divine Word Seminary and seriously thought about becoming a priest. Religion was always a very important part in TJ's life.

TJ was a teacher and taught school in Toledo, St. Patrick's School in Bryan, and Calvert High School in Tiffin. In his leisure time, he collected stamps, Indian culture figures, and enjoyed watching history videos. He enjoyed traveling and his favorite spot to visit was Independence Falls in Bryan. TJ volunteered at the Blessed Sacrament School for handicapped children. He also helped for many years with mass and Catholic Communion services at Good Shepherd Home.

TJ's funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin, with the Rev. Thomas Abraham officiating. Visitation will be 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. There will be no burial at this time.
