Thomas Borgen Obituary

Thomas Borgen

Thomas ("Happy", "Hap") "Tom" Borgen, 65, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away due to complications of a stroke Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024.

He was born in 1959.

Tom is survived by his wife, Cheryl Adams Borgen; their two children, Leo Borgen and Vance Borgen; parents, William and Jacquelyn Borgen; and two brothers, Robert (Cindy) Borgen and James (Leigh Ann) Borgen.

Tom graduated from Columbian High school in 1977 and obtained a Bachelor's degree in 1983 and Master's degree in 1985 in chemical engineering from University of Akron.

After earning his college degree, Tom spent 40 years in the aerospace industry.

Tom met Cheryl in 1990 when they both had moved to Colorado. Over the last 32 years, they enjoyed traveling. Tom had a love for the great outdoors, gardening, and walking their two dogs, Star and Percy.

Tom was known for his gentle nature, his infectious, happy personality, and boundless generosity. He was a man of deep curiosity and passion, especially for science and space. As a lover of music, Tom once starred as "Professor Higgins" in his high school's musical, "My Fair Lady" and would often break into song at the drop of the hat.

Tom's celebration of life memorial service was Sunday, Aug. 11, 2024, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your local community food bank or donor's choice in honor of Tom's passion for gardening and his wishes to give back to others in need.

I had wonderful memories of Tom. We used to swim together at the Y. We sang together in choir and in the Quartet of "The Music Man." I accompanied his clarinet solo at Solo and Ensemble Festival. We marched together. He was a wonderful, gentle and funny soul. My world feels a little empty without him in it. Bon voyage, Hap!
