Thomas Huss Obituary
Thomas A. Huss, 82, of Tiffin, passed away at 6:44 a.m., Sunday, June 12, 2022 at Mercy Hospital - Tiffin Health.
Tom was born December 5, 1939, in Tiffin, to the late Earl Urban and Hilda Marie (Serr) Huss. He first married Judith (Cramer) and they later divorced and then he married June Evan Hatoor on June 8, 1984.
Survivors include his wife, June Huss of Tiffin, a son, Philip (Mary) Huss of Tiffin, two daughters, Christine (Rob) Guston of Lansing, MI, Beth Ward of Punta Gorda, FL, two step-children, Renee (James III) Black of Cape Coral, FL and Michael (Nancy) Hatoor of Bend, OR, eleven grandchildren, Brittany, Kaitlin, Megan (Jacob) Lambert and Ashley Guston, Carly, Halle and Benjamin Ward, Ryan and Allison Huss, Christopher and Kayla Black.
Tom worked at Tiffin Fire Department from 1962 to 1995 where he served as a firefighter, Captain and as Chief of the Department from 1977 until retirement. Tom was involved with the International Association of Firefighters Local 322, International Association of Fire Chiefs, Seneca County Firemen's Association, Northwest Ohio Association of Fire Chiefs, Tiffin Optimist Club, a member of the board of trustees of CASA of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot counties, Ohio CASA Board, Mercy Hospital Board, Habitat for Humanity Board, the Seneca County Commission on Aging Board and was a member of the Seneca County Emergency Planning Committee.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Joseph Huss and a son-in-law, Gary Ward.
There will be a Memorial Service for Tom held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Christ Church at Tiffin. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Friday, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of the service at the church. There will be no burial held at this time. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church at Tiffin or CASA. On-line condolences may be left for the family at www.shookfamilyfh.com.
