Thomas A. Whitta

Thomas A. Whitta, 69, of Fostoria, passed away at 8:55 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2022, with family by his side at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria, after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Tom was born Jan. 14, 1953, in Fostoria, to the late James Charles and Ruth Ann (Hattendorf)Whitta. He married Lori Hardin in 1976, they later divorced, and she survives in California.

Tom is also survived by a son, Tim (Patty) Whitta of Austin, Texas; daughter, Lindsey (Tim) Weller, of Chagrin Falls; six siblings, David (Denise) Whitta of Fostoria, Kathryn (Jon) Miller of Ottawa Hills, Mary (the late Kirk) VanDagens of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, James S. (Jon Harada) Whitta of Berkeley, California, Susan (Mike) Zeiler of Grand Haven, Michigan, and Elizabeth "Beth" (Ken Reinhart) Buhrow of Fostoria; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom retired from the family business as Vice-President and Co-Owner of Whitta Construction Inc., Fostoria, after 49 years of service. He was devoted to the business, his family, and all of the employees and their families. He was known to always greet you with a smile, give you an ornery wink, and show kindness and generosity. He loved golf, music, and singing along to 70's rock, and could challenge anyone in a game of cards. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and a 1971 graduate of St. Wendelin High School. He was a third-degree and fourth-degree member of Fostoria Knights of Columbus.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Friday, June, 24, 2022, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
