Timothy Moes Obituary

Timothy Edward Moes

Timothy Edward Moes, 67, of Edgerton and formerly of Fostoria, passed away at 6:49 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, with family by his side, along with the love of his life, Jackie Shuck.

He was born November 7, 1958, in Fostoria, to the late Edward J. and Elizabeth J. "Betty" (Burns) Moes.

Surviving is a daughter, Charlotte Lea Moes; longtime companion, Jackie Shuck; siblings, Steven (Jane) Moes, Robert (Nancy) Moes, Susan (late Rickerd) Carrel, Mary "Betsy" (Jeff) Faeth, Deborah (Doug) Scudder, Lisa Rutter and Lori (Chris) Fournier.

Tim retired as supervisor and electrician from the Bryan Municipal Utilities Power Plant in July 2025, after 15 years of employment. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He served his country for six years, with honor and dedication on the USS Koelsch 1049 during the Iranian Hostage Crisis and the Iran/Iraq war, guarding the Straits of Hormuz from 1979-1982. He earned the Navy Expeditionary medal with 2 bronze stars, Sea Service Deployment ribbon, and Expert .45 Caliber Pistol ribbon.

To those who knew him best, Tim was more than a veteran- he was the heart of every gathering. He had a gift for humor and a great personality, with an unmistakable laugh that will always be remembered, as well as his favorite question, "Are ya hip?" He will be fondly remembered for his cooking, grilling and smoking abilities. As a true grill master, he turned simple meals into lasting memories, filling the air with laughter through his great storytelling ability, delicious food, and the unmistakable warmth of his presence.

He enjoyed hunting, relaxing in his backyard retreat, and gathering together with friends and family. He was a life member of the Bryan AMVETS Post No. 54, where he prepared his famous bean soup for the club in honor of Veterans' Day. He was also a member of Eagles Club and Knights of Columbus in Bryan.

On Saturday, April 25, at 10:30 a.m. there will be a Committal Service with Military Honors at the Veterans' Memorial Chapel at Fountain Cemetery. Immediately following the service, a celebration of life will take place at Fostoria Knights of Columbus in honor of his love for good food and good company. The family encourages those attending to share stories, laughter, and memories-just as he would have wanted.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Fostoria United Veterans Honor Guard, the Bryan Amvets Post No. 54, or Wounded Warriors.
