Todd W. Strange

Todd Wayne Strange, 67, beloved father, brother & friend has passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, after a prolonged battle with cancer.

He was born on April 6, 1957, to Henry "Hank" J. Strange & Ruth (Hardy) Strange. Todd grew up in Buffalo, New York and Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended Mecklenburg High School, where he succeeded in academics and soccer. He later attended North Carolina State University to study accounting. Todd said the way to success was "to plan the work and work the plan." He was always diligent in his work, from selling books door to door during the summer in Mena, Arkansas, to paying for college tuition, to his subsequent career in accounting and industry. He later held several positions as Chief Financial Officer and enjoyed the challenges and accomplishments in his field.

Todd enjoyed music and, over his lifetime, played piano, trumpet, tuba & recorder. He played tuba in the NC State Band and volunteered his time to play for the Salvation Army Band on Sundays. He enjoyed listening to and playing classical music on the piano.

Boy Scouts were also very important in Todd's life. He was a lifelong member and also enrolled his sons in scouting. His fondest memories include Boy Scout outings to Philmont and Sea Base with his sons. Todd was a lifelong athlete; he enjoyed golf, cycling, pickleball and hiking. His favorite pastime was golf, and he spent many hours of joy and frustration on the course, later passing this love for the game onto his sons. His feats in cycling included the "Assault on Mount Mitchell", a 100-mile uphill ride from Spartanburg, SC, to Mount Mitchell, NC.

Todd was preceded in death by his parents. He will be affectionately remembered and grieved for by his sons, Aaron and Thomas Strange; his brother, Glenn Strange; and extended family and friends.

Todd was a believer in Jesus Christ and strove to lead his sons in an upright way of life, by example and counsel. His suffering is now over and his spirit has passed into the Lord's embrace.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Alzheimer's Association in North Carolina.

There will be no services at this time.
