Wayne Lee Posey

Wayne Lee Posey, 75, of Bascom, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born July 7, 1950, in Greenfield, Ohio, to the late Loring and Julia (Freshour) Posey. He married Christine Louise Tiell, December 5, 1970, at St. Joseph Church in Salem Township, and she survives in Bascom.

Also surviving are six children, Leanna (Chris Beard) Posey, Rhonda (Rod Fry) Posey, Joan (Jake Haferd) Kirian, Laura (Joel) Evans, Bradley (Julie) Posey and Duane (McKenzie) Posey; 11 grandchildren, Marissa Kuehnle, Cody Kirian, Lexa Beard, Jarrod Kirian, Ava Kirian, Easton Posey, Sloan Posey, Audra Posey, Wade Posey, Bennett Posey and Dean Posey; three great-grandsons, Sawyer, Granger and Chad; two twin great-granddaughters on the way; and a brother, Tom (Melissa) Posey; and three sisters, Carolyn Ackley, Janet Shipman and Kathryn Hensley.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Posey, and his beloved dogs, Flash and Diesel.

Wayne was founder and operator of Posey Excavating, Inc. from 1973-2014. He also established JLS, a rental company, in 1994. Over the course of his life, he had served on numerous boards and organizations, including Bascom Lions, Bascom Telephone Co., Bascom Joint Fire District Board of Directors, and was inducted as an Honorary Member of H-L FFA in 2000.

Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday, December 18, 2025, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2025, at the funeral home with Chaplain Ben Sandrock presiding. Burial will follow at Sandridge Cemetery in Bascom.
