William Bland Obituary
William Bland, 85, of Findlay, passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023.
William was born in Old Fort, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Violet Mae (Gerstenberger) Bland.
He married the love of his life Donna Wentz Oct. 24, 1959, and she survives in Findlay. William is also survived by his two children, Douglas Bland of Kenton and Amie (Scott Dutton) Bland of Findlay; two granddaughters, that he adored, KiaLynne and DeLainie; and a sister, Kathyrn Acker.
He was preceded in death by his three siblings, Fred Bland, Raymond Bland, and Wanda Bland.
William was a 1956 graduate of McCutchenville High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1959. William was a former policeman for the Village of New Reigel and was an auxiliary officer for Seneca County Sheriff's Department and Seneca County Civil Defense. He was a volunteer fireman and worked at Whirpool as a supervisor retiring after 26 years of service. William loved fishing any place that he could cast his pole, but most of all, William loved his family, especially his two granddaughters who where his pride and joy.
Visitation for William will be 10 a.m. until the time of his Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, at Bible United Methodist Church, 529 Stadium Dr., Findlay, Ohio 45840, where military honors will be rendered by Hancock County Memorial Squad.
The family request no flowers, but to make a donation in William's honor to Kidney Foundation, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donors' choice.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840.
