William Moyer Obituary

William Lee "Bill" Moyer Sr.

William Lee "Bill" Moyer Sr., 82, of Fostoria, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at his home. He was born October 1, 1942, in Charles Town, West Virginia, to the late Snowden and Violet (Luttrell) Moyer Sr. He married Irene Mary "Peanut" Ramirez on February 22, 1974, in St. Mary's, Ohio, and she preceded him in death September 16, 2024.

Bill was a 1961 graduate of Elmwood High School and later earned an associate's degree from Bowling Green State University. He excelled in high school basketball and track. He retired in September 2014 from Roppe Holding Company, Fostoria, with 53 years of service.

He was a lifetime member of DeMars Point Hunting & Fishing Club, Fremont, National Trappers Association, Ohio State Trappers Association and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He had also been a volunteer for several nonprofit organizations.

Bill will be fondly remembered as an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed teaching his kids, grandkids and anyone who shared his passion about the outdoors. He was the owner and operator of "Bill's Trapping Supplies." Most of all, Bill was a family man and created a beautiful life with his wife, Irene "Peanut."

Surviving Bill are nine children, Angela (Brian) Welly of Fostoria, William (Shelly) Moyer Jr. of Fremont, Sophia (Kirk) Tahsin of North Olmsted, Christina (Felix) Lerma of Alvada, Soledad Pardo of Delaware, Hope Gonzales of Fostoria, Linda Kenney of Port Washington, Rachel Geiser of Luckey and Eloisa Kisaberth of Maineville; bonus son, Terry(Lisa) Lee of Fostoria, 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Snowden (Barb) Moyer Jr. of Tucson, Arizona, Ann Plott of Fostoria, Kyle Moyer of Green Springs, Richard (BIL) Burdock of Mt. Blanchard and Sue (SIL) Moyer of Tiffin;

He was also preceded in death by siblings, Jeanie Burdock, Steven, and James Moyer.

Visitation is from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830, where a celebration of Bill's life will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at the funeral home. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery, Fostoria. A luncheon and gathering will follow immediately at Fostoria Eagles Club, 1049 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. For those attending Bill's visitation the family asked if possible to wear OSU, BGSU or camouflage hunting attire in his memory.

Memorial contribu-tions are suggested to Greater Fostoria Community Foundation, Roppe Scholarship Fund, which he helped establish, or American Cancer Society.

I worked with Bill many decades ago at Roppe Corp and always enjoyed working with him. I remember that he would always invite me back to the lab during the Christmas season to sample some treats. It was my pleasure to have known him.
