William Munson Obituary
William A. "Bill" Munson, 75, of Fostoria, passed away at 7:03 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
He was born Oct. 5, 1947, in Fostoria, to Harold T. and Phyllis M. (Vogel) Munson Jr. He married Karen "Kate" Thiry on Dec. 3, 1983, in Fostoria.
Bill is survived by his wife, Karen "Kate" Munson of Fostoria; three daughters, Julie (Nasser) Zainal of Dubai, Mindy (Mitch) Ary of Findlay, and Stephanie (Matthew) Ricker of Arcadia; eight grandchildren, Laith, Hafsa, Hareth, and Muaath Zainal, Miles Ary, Colin and Jameson Nusser, and Madelyn Ricker; sister, Susan (partner, William McGinley) Ford of Massachusetts; brother, Jim (Shirley) Munson of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn son; brother, Richard Munson; sister-in-law, Cathy Munson; and favorite four-legged buddy, "Gus."
Bill was a retired Postmaster for the Village of Bloomdale and also a mail carrier for Fostoria Post Office. He was a veteran outreach specialist for the State of Ohio, worked at Fostoria Foundry, and served on Seneca County Veterans Commission.
Bill was a Sergeant in U.S. Marine Corp, serving during the Vietnam War from 1965-1969. He was a member of Purple Heart Association, American Legion, charter member of Vietnam Veterans Chapter 69, VFW, Moose, Amvets, United Sportsman Club, Knights of Columbus, and St. Wendelin Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2023, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio, 44830.
Bill's celebration of life will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 12, 2023, at the funeral home with Terry Robinson presiding. Military honors will follow at Veteran's Memorial Chapel of Fountain Cemetery provided by United Veterans of Fostoria Honor Guard. Burial will be at St. Wendelin Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin Cemetery Care or Bridge Hospice in care of the funeral home.
