William P. "Bill" Schwepe

William Paul "Bill" Schwepe, 72, of Fostoria, passed away Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born July 16, 1950, in Lima, Ohio, to Ferd and Dorothy (Quellhorst) Schwepe. He married Mary Jo Fenstermaker on Dec. 16, 1971, in Vanlue.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Schwepe of Fostoria; daughters Melissa (Leonard) Lawniczak of Toledo and Anne (Jeff) Reed of Ada; sister, Nancy Fisher of Perry; and grandchildren, Hunter, Brandon, Alyssa, Kayla, Addison, and Josiah.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He retired in 2011 from Fostoria City Schools after 30 years of service where he was the head of the Choral Music Department since 2002. After that, he was at University of Toledo as well as choir director at First United Methodist Church in Bowling Green.

Bill received his Bachelor's and Masters degrees from Bowling Green State University. His postgraduate work continued at University of Wisconsin and Oberlin. He attended First Presbyterian Church, Fostoria. He was also a member of OEA/NEA, OMEA/MENC, and ACAD/OCDA.

Bill's funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at First Presbyterian Church, Fostoria, with the Rev. Chris Walter and Dr. Marie Louden-Hanes officiating. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at Fountain Cemetery at a later date. The family would welcome Fostoria alumni to come and participate in singing to honor him during his funeral.
