Willis Link Obituary
Willis Kellen "Spike" Link, 97, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022.
He was born May 5, 1925, in Bloomville, to Willis Kellen and Avis Lavern (Brown) Link.
Spike proudly served in U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater and then graduated from The Ohio State University. He moved south to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1974 from Columbus, and then to Sarasota in 1987. He was strong in the Methodist Christian faith and attended First United Methodist Church for many years. Spike was also a member of The Ohio State University honor society, fraternity, and alumni associations. He continued to attend fraternity luncheons in Florida.
He was also a member of VFW and Masonic Lodge. Spike loved people, socializing, country farms, outdoors, football, and flying private aircraft. While still in Columbus, he enjoyed years of refereeing for high school football games.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Sheryl Ann Link; son, Stephen Kellen Link and his wife, Jodi Link; sister, Martha Jane Spain; and grandchildren, Amanda Link, Mackenzie Link, Christine Link, Joe Link, Bethany Link, and Maloree Link.
Spike was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bethany Jean Link; and son, Keith Harold Link.
A celebration of Spike's life was Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, in Sarasota, Florida.
Interment with Honor Guard will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday Sept. 30, 2023, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Township Road 173, three miles west of Bloomville. The public is invited to attend.
A family celebration of life gathering will be 12-1 p.m. Saturday at Bloomville United Church of Christ fellowship hall.
