Sheri Muench Obituary

Sheri Ann (Miller) Muench, age 81, passed away on February 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Sheri was born on October 6, 1944, in Independence, Iowa, to Pauline and Lauren Miller. She grew up in Independence, where she formed lifelong friendships and built the strong values that guided her life. She was a 1962 graduate of Jefferson High School in Independence. It was in Independence that she met the love of her life, John, with whom she shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised two children, Carol and Brian.

Sheri worked alongside her husband in operating their family farm, a thriving corn, soybean, livestock, and dairy operation. The farm served as a place for family and friends to gather, work together, and create lasting memories. She also spent 20 years working at the FSA office in Independence, where she formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. She and John believed strongly in giving back and were active members of their community throughout their lives.

They treasured the simple joys of life together, especially playing games, and also shared their adventurous spirit through their many travels. Sheri was a sports enthusiast who spent many summers on the golf course and loved cheering on her Iowa Hawkeyes and Kansas City Chiefs. She also enjoyed creating scrapbooks to capture life's special moments and took great pride in cheering on her granddaughters at their sporting events.

Sheri cherished making lasting memories with family and friends and expanded her circle of friends while living in Clear Lake, Iowa, and wintering in Mercedes, Texas. Her sense of humor and sharp wit brought smiles, joy, and laughter to all who surrounded her. Sheri was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aurora and later Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. Her faith in God was central to her life and guided her love, generosity, and service to others.

Sheri is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Carol (Jim) Fleter; her son, Brian (Andy Ziadi) Muench; and her three grandchildren, Jensen (Aaron) Rouse, Morgan, and Lilian, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her brother, Larry Miller, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, Michael John, and her beloved husband, John.

Visitation will be held on Monday February 23, 2026 from 4 PM until 7 PM at the at the Reiff Family Center-Funeral Home in Independence, IA.
