Allan Poklar Obituary

If you ever met Allan Poklar you likely gained at least one great story, a life lesson, and a lasting memory. Most of his friends called him "Big Al," a nickname that fit not because of his physical stature (he wasn't a particularly large man), but because of the size of his personality. Allan was quirky, funny, fun-loving, and hard-working. More than anything, he loved his wife Nancy, his two sons Eric and Adam, his daughter-in-law Abby, his four grandchildren Anna, Griffin, Cora, and Hattie, and pretty much everyone he met. Allan was born in Euclid, Ohio in 1942 to Andy and Anna, joining brother Norman and sister Pauline, all of whom have since passed. He graduated from Saint Joe's High School in Cleveland, followed by Ohio State and then Kent State. He began his career as a teacher and then transitioned to sales. Both careers were central to who he was: he would charm you and talk your ear off while never being shy about sharing his "system" for completing even the most mundane tasks. Allan left this Earth to join his wife in heaven. He has left behind a lasting impression, lots of laughs, many fond memories, and much love for everyone he left.
