Larry Zeigler Obituary

Larry D. "Ziggy" Zeigler, age 86, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, March 17, 2025, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Cordry Lake in Brown County.
Born on July 6, 1938, in Angola, Indiana, Ziggy was the son of the late Daniel and Charlotte (Suffel) Zeigler. He graduated from Manual High School in 1955 and went on to work for General Motors as a Tool & Die Setter for over 32 years. Prior to his career at General Motors, he served as a Police Officer in Indianapolis. As a civilian, he was recognized for his heroic actions in saving two lives.
Ziggy was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a proud member of the Shrine. A skilled woodworker, he enjoyed creating birdhouses, ashtrays, flowers, and custom family signs for his friends and family. He was passionate about the outdoors, often spending time hunting, boating and fishing on Cordry Lake. Known for his generous and selfless nature, Ziggy had a heart that was always open to those in need. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help others.
Ziggy is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Carolyn (Crawford) Zeigler; children, Terri (Rocky) Shanehsaz, Tracey Zeigler, Kim (David) Smith, and Katherine "Kitty" (Jim) Lipe; stepchildren, Kimberly Austin, Rebecca Austin-Pearson, and Will (Colleen) Dean; siblings, Mike (Sharon) Zeigler, Charolen (fiancé Larry) Caldwell, and Darlene (Joe) McManus; as well as nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Laurie Austin-Kiefer; and siblings, Aaron Zeigler and Diane Fraley.
In accordance with Ziggy's wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Cremation services have been entrusted to Meredith-Clark Funeral Home Cremation & Personalization Center in Morgantown.
