Amy Shyanne Kitchell, 47, passed away on February 7, 2025, after a lengthy battle with
cancer in Lubbock, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
Born on October 9, 1977, in Lubbock, Amy grew up with a deep love for animals and a
compassionate spirit that touched many lives. She graduated from Frenship High
School in 1996 before serving in the U.S. Navy for three years. Being stationed in
Souda Bay, Greece for over a year, her love of travel was intensified. She also enjoyed
serving as an honor guard. Her time in the military reflected her dedication and
resilience, qualities that remained with her throughout her life.
Amy had an unwavering passion for animals, particularly dogs. She was known for her
kindness toward strays, ensuring that no animal near her home went without food or
shelter. Her love for animals extended into her work at the Pet Hotel, where she found
immense joy in caring for pets and providing them with comfort and attention.
Beyond her devotion to animals, Amy enjoyed traveling and exploring new places.
Whether near or far, she embraced the opportunity to experience different surroundings
and create lasting memories along the way.
Amy is survived by her mother and father, Janet and Garland Lucus of Lubbock; her
sister, Michelle Kitchell of Lubbock; her stepbrothers, Dwane Lucus of Meadow, Kent
Lucus and wife Caresa of Stephenville; her stepsister, Melonie Bolling and husband
Gary of Stephenville; her uncles, Chris Moore of Lubbock, Ronnie Moore and wife Linda
of Lubbock; her aunt, Phyllis Lynch of Lake Jackson along with nieces, nephews and
cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jackie Kitchell; her maternal grandparents
J.T. and Merle Moore; paternal grandparents Elmo and Edith Kitchel; along with her
aunt, Linda Stokes.
Amy's kindness and generosity will be deeply missed by those who knew her. May her
memory bring comfort to all who loved her as she never met a stranger.
