Barry Harwell Obituary

Barry "Gene" Harwell was born on October 26th, 1957 to Mary & Jim Harwell in Brownfield, Texas. He departed his earthly life on March 2nd, 2025.
Gene was the youngest of 4 boys, raised in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1976 and immediately began his lifelong, 48-year career in Telecommunications Engineering.
Gene married the love of his life, Delores "Dee Dee" Henderson on July 26th, 1980. They were married just short of 45 years. Dee Dee preceded him in death by just 31 days.
Together they had 2 daughters, Kim & Dana. They loved & cherished their 5 granddaughters, Kaylee, Stephanie, Taelor, Kaitlyn, Mackenzie, and one grandson, the youngest of their crew, Brayden. They also got to enjoy 2 great grandchildren, Aurora & AJ.
Gene was an avid golfer, loved caring for his lawn, and cooking out. He enjoyed watching Nascar, football, black and white westerns, cooking shows, and challenging Sudoku puzzles when he wasn't outside. He was a devout Christian and loved sharing stories of his childhood & adolescence.
Gene is survived by his 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren, 2 greats, and 2 brothers, Lee & Jay.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Dee Dee, his mother Mary & Step-dad Wayne, his dad Jim, and his brother Mike.
A joint memorial service will be held at a later date.
