Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at the age of 94. Bonnie was born on August 23, 1930, on the family farm on Frost Road in Merrill. Her parents were the late John (Jack) Ellis and Agnes (Hogan) Ellis. She graduated from Merrill High School in 1948. She married George F. Mikusko, Jr., later that year. She was remarried in 1987 to Robert Breasbois; he predeceased her in 2006.
Bonnie was a lifetime resident of Merrill and valued her community, as well as a member of St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed working the funeral dinners at the parish for many years, serving on the Christian Service Committee.
Bonnie worked at Woods IGA in Merrill, and Ray’s Food Fair on State Street for twenty years. After retirement, she worked for Dollar Daze in Merrill for five years.
Bonnie is survived by her two daughters, Connie Mikusko LaFleur and Karen Mikusko Spindler. She left three grandchildren, Scott (Ruth) Mikusko, Sara (Bob) Cunningham, and Cassie (Jake) McCormick; four great-grandchildren, MacKay and Molly Cunningham, Aubrey Meyers, and Addison McCormick; one sister, Barbara (Curt) Shaffner of Midland; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Maxine (Larry) Sherwood and Shirley (Jack) Demers; and a special cousin, Donna Krause Johnson.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 445 S. Midland St, Merrill, MI 48637, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp, S.J. will officiate the service with interment to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Sacred Heart Church, the Merrill Public Library, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
