It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debbie Martinez, on April 3, 2025, at the age of 57. Born on May 30, 1967, in Abernathy, TX, and moved to Lubbock as a child. Debbie was the beloved daughter of Eva and Joe Martinez, and a cherished younger sister to Norma Martinez.
During Debbie's elementary years she took dance from Billie Jo's School of Dance and learned to play the piano. Her journey through life was vibrant; she attended Tubbs Elementary, McKenzie Junior High, and Coronado High School, where she played the tuba in in band. She mastered earning a black belt in Taekwondo as well in high school. Debbie also worked part time at Save and Gain during high school.
She graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in nursing, fulfilling her passion for helping others as a dedicated Registered Nurse for over thirty years. She began her career at Methodist Hospital that later became Covenant Medical Center. She currently was working at the Covenant Surgery Center.
Her passion for life was evident in everything she did, from her love for angels to the countless books she devoured.
Debbie leaves behind her loving family, including her parents, Joe and Eva Martinez; sister, Norm; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever cherish the memories shared with her.

My condolences to the family. I worked with Debbie at the Surgery Center. She was an amazing nurse, she took great care of her patients. I am happy to have known
and had the opportunity to work with her. We had many good laughs. My prayers are with you all. RIP dear friend.
