Mary "Mutzie" Dopudja, 94, of Chester, passed away peacefully at Weirton Medical Center on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Born in Weirton on July 10, 1930, Mary was one of five children born to Joseph and Mildred Ribar Rojak. A proud graduate of Weir High School, Class of 1948, she dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker and the heart of her family.
A woman of deep faith, Mary was a devoted member of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church. She was the beloved matriarch of her family, always ensuring that her home was a place of love, warmth, and togetherness.
Family was everything to her, and she ensured no one ever left her home hungry. She cherished the tradition of reserving one day each week for family gatherings. In addition, her home was the heart of the holiday celebrations, filled with joy, tradition, and the aroma of lovingly prepared meals.
Among the many blessings in her life, Mary treasured her lifelong friendship with Erma Stanar, with whom she shared countless memories and unwavering support.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bronko Dopudja, son, Nicholas Dopudja, daughter Carol Dopudja, sisters, Daisy Billcheck and Ann Robinson, and brothers Nick Rojak and Sam Bosnic.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Michael Dopudja and Jon (Tina) Dopudja, all of Chester, grandchildren Brandy Castillo, Autumn (Matt) Hish, Dylan and Chantz Dopudja, great-grandchildren Apphia and Gianni Castillo, Reagan, and Gunnar Hish.
Visitation will be 3-7 PM Monday, March 3, at the Greco Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street, Weirton. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday. March 4, 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 am at the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church 528 N.4th St. Steubenville, OH.
Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Weirton.
Mary's family would like to extend a special thank you and gratitude to Bill and Mary Reed for their heartfelt support and love.
