Sue Ann Moore Busby, of Missouri City, formerly of Lubbock, departed this life Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Sue was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.

Sue was born on October 24, 1938 in Wichita Falls to Evelyn and Fraser Moore. After attending Lubbock High School, Sue went on to Texas Tech University where she was the Drum Major in the “Goin’ Band from Raiderland” while majoring in Home Economics Education. Two months after graduation Sue married the love of her life Bob Busby on July 15, 1960 at the Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock.

Sue and Bob moved from Lubbock to Missouri City, Texas in 1978 where Sue enjoyed many, many years of professional achievements. She worked in the title insurance business for several years before opening Regency Title Company in Fort Bend County. Sue also enjoyed a rewarding career working as the Executive Vice President for the Rosenberg/Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce where she oversaw leadership development and program growth. One of Sue’s favorite roles and passions was working as an executive at the Arc of Fort Bend County where opportunities were created for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Besides these rewarding careers, Sue’s volunteer work was broad and inspiring. Over the years Sue was a graduate of Leadership Fort Bend, a member of and volunteered with the Fort Bend Association of Realtors, Women’s Council of Realtors, Texas Land Title Association, Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce, Rosenberg Revitalization Association, the Texas Board of ARC, and Chairman of the Taste of Fort Bend.

But the most rewarding part of Sue’s life was her family. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were always showered with special gifts that were hand-crafted by Sue. She was an extraordinarily talented seamstress, painter and needleworker, and she could crochet a beautiful hat or scarf faster than anyone! The family has many cherished hand-made masterpieces created by Sue. Sue also loved time in her kitchen cooking for her family and many friends.

Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Belinda Melson and husband Ben, Susan D’Amico and husband Ric; six grandchildren: Benjamin, Katie, Jacob, Cole, Jack, and Aria; and three great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Buckner Parkway Place in Houston, Texas for their wonderful care and compassion for Sue over the last year.

Family will greet friends on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 5 to 7pm at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at 10am at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 3:30pm at Sue’s church home, First Colony Church of Christ in Sugar Land, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the First Colony Church of Christ, 2140 First Colony Blvd., Sugar Land, Texas 77479.
