Thomas Myrick Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 30, 2025.
Thomas was born November 19, 1970, to Thomas Earl Myrick, Sr. and Patricia Gaines Myrick in Portsmouth, VA. He entered the United States Air Force in August 1989. For most of his military career, he was stationed in the Philippines. In 1991, he moved to Lubbock where he served the remainder of his Air Force career at Reese Air Force Base until its closing. He stayed close to his military roots when he accepted a job at the Lubbock VA as an advocate for veteran's healthcare. He was respected by many veterans because of his kind, empathetic heart. His passion was to help veterans find necessary resources while treating them with the utmost respect. In July of 2008, he was recognized by the Texas Veterans Commission as Outstanding Employee of the Month along with numerous other Above and Beyond Awards. He was a 3rd generation Air Force veteran and retired in 2018 after serving his fellow veterans for over 25 years.
Thomas married the love of his life Esther Gonzales April 14, 2007 in Lubbock. Although they had no human children, their beloved rescue cat Twinkie was their furry child for 17 years until she passed in 2023. Thomas was an avid car enthusiast and enjoyed rides in his own convertibles.
Thomas is survived by his wife Esther Gonzales Myrick; parents, Thomas (Carnell) Myrick Sr. of Prince George, VA; Patricia Gaines Myrick from Richmond, VA; siblings, Jerrod (Samantha) Myrick from Hilliard, OH; Daniel Gonzales- Father-in-Law from Ropesville, Evaleen Gonzales – sister-in-law from Ropesville, Robert (Rebecca) Gonzales – brother-in-law from Ropesville, Noel Gonzales – brother-in-law from Lubbock and several nieces and nephews.
