Tomasa “Tomasita” Gomez, 89 of Lubbock, went to her heavenly home on March 17, 2025, and is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She joined her husband of 65 years, Alfredo T. Gomez, who passed in 2017. In 1960 Tomasita and her husband moved to Lubbock from El Paso and raised 11 children. She was born in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Faustino Garcia and Petra Lopez. She was one of nine children. Siblings who preceded her in death were Angelina, Benita, Jose, Alejandro, Inocencio and Juan.

She was a stay-at-home mom, lovingly raised and cared for her children in the Arnett Benson area and enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Tomasita enjoyed listening to and singing worship songs and teaching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren about the Lord.

Tomasita was a faithful servant of God who spent countless hours in her prayer room interceding for her family and friends. She was a true disciple sharing the love of Christ, planting seeds of faith and hope with everyone she met. She was a member of Templo Cristiano for 35 years. During her membership at Templo Cristiano, she was an active member and leader in the women’s ministry, contributed to the building fund and was involved in numerous fund-raising events. She has been a member of Sinai Worship Center for 10 years.

Those left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory include her daughters Maria Gomez of Lubbock, Sandra Gomez of Grand Prairie, Marisela Gomez of Dallas, and sons Jose Alfredo and Jose Gomez of Lubbock and David Gomez of Dallas, two sisters Angela of Mexico City and Maria Elena of Queretaro, Mexico.

Preceded in death were husband Alfredo T. Gomez, son Juan Gomez of Richmond, KY, daughter Guadalupe “Lupe” Aguilar of Lubbock and sons Alejandro “Alex”, Faustino “Fausti”, and Mario Joaquin of Lubbock, grandson Mario Joaquin Gomez, Jr., of Lubbock, and granddaughter Sydra R. Chavez of Dallas. She will be missed greatly by her 30 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

The pallbearers will be grandsons Anthony Gomez (Abilene); Joey Gomez (Plainview); Jacob Gomez (North Richland Hills); Zander Canales (Hurst); Ezequiel “Zeke” Garcia (Grand Prairie); and granddaughter Destiny Canales (Grand Prairie).
