COHOES - Evelyn R. Abbott, 94, entered into eternal life, Thursday, December 25, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Laura Wilkes White. She graduated from School 18 and attended Troy High School. In 1949, she married the love of her life, Arthur H. Abbott and she moved to Cohoes, where she raised her family and has resided ever since.
Evelyn was known for her wonderful sense of humor. She loved to travel, play games, and go out to dinner. She also enjoyed going to see shows and taking long car rides with family and friends.
If there was one thing that defined Evelyn, it was her dedication to her family. She always put them first and above herself, and she was happiest when they were all together.
Evelyn was the wife of Arthur H. Abbott, who passed in 2009. She is survived by her loving children, Nancy A. Abbott of Cohoes and David A. Abbott and his wife, Patti of Latham; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her infant daughters, Mary and Donna; as well as all of her siblings, Ella Riley, Marion King, Lillian Ryan, Thurman White, Donald White and Doris Franklin.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 9:00 a.m., in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
