SPRINGBORO – David Edward Kepple, age 71 of Springboro, Ohio, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
He was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, in 1954 to James Machesney Kepple and Barbara Brinker Kepple.
A graduate of Ohio University and United Theological Seminary, Dave was a newspaper reporter from 1976 until 1999, most of those years at the Dayton Daily News. He was a United Methodist pastor from 1999 until he retired in 2021. He pastored Union Chapel UMC and St. Paris UMC. He loved both professions, often saying he was still spreading the news, it was just better news as a pastor. He served in Kairos Prison Ministry for many years. Since his retirement he was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Springboro. He loved reading, music, and spending time with his family.
Dave is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janet (Nickoson) Kepple; his children Judy (Carl) Adams, Dan (Nuvia) Kepple, and Scott Kepple; his grandchildren Emily, Matthew, Alexandria, Isabelle, Benjamin, Jonathan, Cora, Denisse (Kyle), Rebecca (Armando), and Rachel; and by great-grandchildren Frankie and Tommy.
Dave is also survived by brothers Bob (Barb) Kepple and John (Jan) Kepple, sister-in-law Betty Kepple, and many nieces and nephews.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, step-father Ed Brinker, and brother, Jim Kepple.
