Arthur Walker Obituary

Arthur L. Walker

Arthur L. Walker, 85, most recently of Perrysburg, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

He was born Nov. 21, 1938, in Hamilton, the son of Arthur Phelps and Edna Walker. He married Betty L. Morrow on May 31, 1957, in Tennessee.

Arthur decided to move up to Ohio from Kentucky when he was 14 years old to work and send money back to his mother to help with his siblings. With his wages, he helped put electricity in three rooms of his mother's home near Cumberland Falls, Kentucky. Arthur and Betty often traveled back "down home" to visit family and friends until they were no longer able to do so. Arthur was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He worked as a production supervisor for Chrysler Corporation for over 31 years, retiring in 2001. Known as Art, he was well-liked and respected by coworkers and those who reported to him. He was very dedicated to his career, missing very few days from work and rarely if ever being late.

Arthur had a love for country music and played in a band with his wife, Betty, friends, and relatives for many years. Although he was always the one with a guitar in his hand, his wife was the one who actually taught him to play. He loved architecture and construction and the equipment that made it happen, like backhoes and dump trucks. He even had a few of his own. He was also proud of building his own home outside of Gibsonburg, where he and Betty raised a family for over 45 years.

Arthur is survived by his wife, Betty Walker of Perrysburg; children, Randall Lee Walker and Michael Ray Walker, both of Toledo, Russell Alan (Marigold) Walker of Maumee, Katherine Marie Damschroder of Elmore, and Leslie Annette (Michael) Erwin of Martin; grandchildren, Danielle, Joel, Shannon, Rachel, Graham, Zachary, Bradley, Mallory, Megan, Chelsea, Trevor, Sydney, Luke, and Laney; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Grant, Camden, Khaleb, Grayson, Charles, Rain, Bear, Evan, Emersyn, Weston, Madden, Boston, and Rowen; great-great-grandchildren, Rory and Hollis; siblings, Wayne Perry of Sawyer, Kentucky, and Windell Lawson of Tiffin; son-in-law, Mike Damschroder of Woodville; and daughters-in-law, Debbie Walker of Walbridge and Donna Walker of Fremont. Arthur is also mourned by children Elizabeth Siek and Kevin Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Rodney Scott and Gregory; great-grandsons, Walker James and Sawyer Michael; and siblings, Ronald Perry, Clinton Ray Perry, RuthAnn Wheeler, Oneeda Honeycutt, Philip Michael Perry.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Herman- Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg. Arthur's graveside funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Fairmont Cemetery, Tiffin. The Rev. Paul Tyree will officiate.
