David J. Young

David J. "Dave" Young, 72, of Delta, passed away Wednesday June 14, 2023.

Dave was born Sept. 9, 1950, in Tiffin, to Francis and Florine (Daniel) Young. He married Kay Kirian on Aug. 21, 1971, in Tiffin, and she survives in Delta.

Dave is also survived by three daughters, Pamela (Nick) Parsai of Louisville, Kentucky, Laura (Eric) Wiberg of Lebanon, Indiana, and Victoria (Christopher Hire) Young of Wolf Lake, Indiana; four grandchildren; brother, Dr. Harold (Terrie) Young of Richmond, Virginia; and two sisters, Carol Young of Republic and Mary Orr of Sunbury.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Donald Young.

He was a 1968 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School and 1972 graduate of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He worked over 30 years for the Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as a mechanical engineer, retiring in 2006.

David enjoyed fixing cars and was a devoted Purdue football fan. He enjoyed collecting different things and talking current events. He loved being with his grandchildren the most.

Dave's funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home, Bloomville. Burial will follow at Farewell Retreat Cemetery, Republic.

Visitation for family and friends will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice or something different to honor Dave's life like helping someone with a car repair, calling a family member that you haven't talked to lately, or playing some of that good old rock-n-roll.
