Kathleen Stumpp Obituary

Kathleen R. Stumpp

Kathleen Regina Stumpp (nee Coleman), 94, was received into the Kingdom of Heaven Monday, April 6, 2026, from Cleveland. She was born May 2, 1931, to Walter and Helena (Reinhart) Coleman as the fourth daughter of eleven children, Gerald (Marguerite), Virgil (Bertha), Donald, Florian (Clara), Duane, Edgar (Mary), Berneda (Tony) Moes, Cyrilla Coleman, Cleora (Dale) Hendricks and Marilyn (Johnny) Welly, all of whom preceded her in death.

She graduated from Jackson Liberty High School in 1949 and married her high school sweetheart, (Capt.) Loren V. Stumpp at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, September 17, 1953. He preceded her in death. After traveling the world as an Air Force wife and mother of three, she returned to Ohio and ultimately the Fostoria area, where she worked at Ex-Cell-O, Copeland, Modine and Marathon before retiring in 1998. She was a devoted member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, serving for many years as a Lay Deacon, Card Ministry Coordinator, Plant Waterer, and Funeral Luncheon committee.

Kathleen, more readily known as Kathy, was interested in healthy nutrition and wellness. And enjoyed shopping, dancing and trips to "wherever" with her daughters, Dana and Loreen and keeping her son, Dennis, out of trouble. Animals loved her, and she returned their favor. Earlier in married life, she took up home decorating, gardening, water and snow skiing. She had a keen eye for a bargain and a peculiar memory for what she had paid for those bargains even 30 years prior.

She was never as happy as when she was surrounded by family, and it gave her great joy to love her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She valued relationships with people, especially nieces, nephews and extended family. And her vibrant and welcoming personality ensured she rarely met a stranger.

She is survived by her children, Loreen (Russell) Dobos, Dennis (Claire Kindley) Stumpp, and Dana Stumpp. As well as four grandchildren, Jeremy (Deirdre) Dobos, Jaimee (Jim) Woodall, Jana (Shane) Cook, Hannah (Nick Anderson) Stumpp; and 13 great-grandchildren, Aeden, Declan, Anya, Liam and Ronan Dobos; Micaela McGrath, Nathan, Leah and Matthew Woodall; Kieran and Raina Cook; Malcolm and Oliver Anderson.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2026 and 9-10 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Hoening & Son Funeral Home, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830. Her funeral Mass will follow final viewing at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, 323 N. Wood St., Fostoria, OH 44830, followed by burial at St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery, 763 Van Buren St., Fostoria, OH 44830. A post-interment luncheon will be at the funeral home.

Yesterday

Kathy was a friend for many years, we met when we both worked at the ExCello Corporation here in Fostoria, and when they closed we met again at church. And our friendship started back up. We would see each other at church but she would walk her dog everyday at Fountain Cemetart and if I was there at my husbands grave we would talk for hours. We talked one day for 3 hours and then started laughing that we should have went back to her house and sit on the porch and talk. She was a very kind, and funny person and she devoted herself to volunteering at church Rest in Peace Kathy. Good memories.
