Ramiro Cruz Obituary
Ramiro "Ronnie" Cruz, 83, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Mercy Health - Perrysburg Hospital.
He was born October 4, 1941, in Realitos, Texas, to the late Sylvester and Gregoria (Landa) Cruz. He married Olivia "Vickie" Hernandez on September 30, 1983, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria, and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving is a stepson, Christopher Garcia, Fostoria; two stepgrandchildren, Angel Garcia, Austin, Texas and Ayden Garcia, Fostoria; four siblings, Odilia Cruz, Sandusky, Mary (Joe) Durso, Georgia; Fred Cruz, Sandusky and Joe (Diane) Cruz, California.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Bobby, Ralph, Herman, Rueben, Sylvester Jr., Larry Arthur and David; sisters, Hortencia, Olga and Rosie; and two stepgrandchildren, Alyssia Garcia and Christopher Garcia Jr.
Ronnie was a member and former usher at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. He made his Cursillo at the former Divine Word Seminary, Perrysburg.
Ronnie was a construction worker and meat butcher in Sandusky. He loved boxing, raising chickens, all types of animals and gardening. He was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed listening to Mexican and country music.
Visitation is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2025, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, Ohio 44830. The funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Poggemeyer presiding. Following the funeral Mass, there will be a luncheon in the parish hall at church.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Alzheimer's Association of NW Ohio in care of the funeral home.
