Richard Nye Obituary
Richard L. Nye, 82, of Alvada, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.
He was born August 1, 1943, in Alvada to the late Cyril Jacob and Germaine Rosetta (Gosche) Nye. He married the love of his life, Rosemary "Rosie" Hark, April 27, 1963, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Riegel, and she survives in Alvada.
Also surviving are five sons, Lewis (Sharon) Nye, Tiffin, Randy (Theresa) Nye, New Riegel, Matthew (Vicky) Nye, Castalia, Samuel Nye, Dayton and Raymond Nye, Bloomville; grandchildren, Adam, Shannon, Levi, Latasha, Devin, Ross, Kyle, Tyler, Justin, Hayden and Trever; great-grandchildren, Claire, Natalie, Nora, Kylie, Abigail, Waylon, and one on the way, William; sisters, Idella Reinhart, Eloise Reinhart, Teresa Szablewski, Donna (Gene) Wagner, and Sharon (Marvin) Hohman; and sister-in-law, Pearl Nye. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Cyril M. Nye, Berneida Lichtle, Donald Nye, Delbert Nye, Carl Nye, Mary Lou Weinandy, and Shirley Daniel.
Richard was a member of All Saints Parish in New Riegel and New Riegel Knights of Columbus St. Francis Gaspar Council No. 10749. He worked the majority of his life as a mechanic. Richard enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and loved his Pontiac cars. He collected model cars, motorcycles, clocks and tinkered around. Above all, he loved his family and holding babies.
Visitation is 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME, 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026, at All Saints Parish in New Riegel. The funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday at All Saints Parish, New Riegel, with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer presiding. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Alvada. Following the burial, there will be a luncheon and gathering at New Riegel American Legion.
Memorial contribu-tions are suggested to Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, F.A.C.T., or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
