Richard Ohler Obituary
Richard R. "Rich" Ohler, 72, of Tiffin, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born Sept. 17, 1951, in Tiffin, to Hilton and Virginia F. (Elchert) Ohler. Rich married Elizabeth J. "Betty" Bryner on June 20, 1970.
Rich's survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ohler of Tiffin; daughters, Linda Ohler and Karen (Brian) Gaietto, both of Tiffin; three grandchildren, Jacob (Ellen) Gaietto, Nicholas Gaietto, and Zachary (Cassandra) Gaietto; and three great-grandchildren, Ravenna, Jareth, and Bellizare.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Ruth "Rudy" Ohler; and brother, James Ohler.
Rich was a 1969 graduate of Tiffin Calvert High School. After high school, he served in U.S. Reserves from 1970-1978. He worked at National Machinery, as an EMT for Tiffin Fire & Rescue, volunteer for Sycamore Fire & Rescue (now Mohawk Fire & Rescue) for over 15 years, and retired after six years from Seneca County Jail. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and volunteered there for years. Rich enjoyed spending time at Lake Erie and the Amish Country, being outdoors, vacationing, Cedar Point trips, and going to Disney World with his family. Rich was honest, honorable, loyal with his friends, hardworking, and a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. A Rosary will be prayed 30 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation for friends and family will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mohawk Fire & Rescue, or Humane Society of Seneca County.
