Rita Jean Scherger

Rita Jean Scherger, 88, of Tiffin, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 2025, at The Courtyard Assisted Living, Tiffin. She was born April 16, 1937, in Tiffin, to Ralph P. and Mary Dolores (Reinhart) Seislove. She married Joseph Arthur Scherger, August 23, 1958, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. He died September 5, 2022.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Pam) Scherger and Jeffrey (Dana) Scherger, both of Tiffin; two daughters, Cynthia Schalk and Karen (Mark) Pardi, both of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, P. David (Phyllis) Seislove, and a sister, Mary Beth (Nik) Boyer, both of Tiffin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Stephan Seislove.

Rita was a 1955 graduate of Calvert High School and St. Mary of Springs College for two years, and later became a fifth-grade teacher at St. Joseph School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Rosary Altar Society. She was devoted to her church and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Visitation for family and friends will be 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2025, at TRAUNERO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883. (419)447-3113.

Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Anthony Coci officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
