Roger Bumb Obituary
Roger Bumb, 62, of Carey, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024.
He was born Aug. 8, 1962, in Tiffin, to Walter and Alma (Mathias) Bumb. Roger's legacy is one of warmth, infectious laughter, hard work, and unwavering love for those he held dear.
Roger met Beth Staley on a blind date set up by their mutual friends. They married Nov. 29, 1986, and she survives him in Carey.
He is also survived by his children, Nicholas Bumb, Olivia (Jason Smith) Bumb, Chelsea (Chris Vasel) Bumb, Molly (Brian) Grzybowski-Cuff, Tabitha Bumb, and Mitchel Bumb; grandsons he cherished, Dori and Sully; and siblings, Dennis Bumb, Duane (John Herzins) Bumb, Sharon (George) Hilton, Shirley (Michael) Conley, and Randal Bumb.
Roger graduated from New Riegel High School in 1980. He went to Terra State Community College, where he earned an Associate's Degree as an Industrial Electrician. He received his Journeyman's card and worked for Cooper Tire, Heinz, and Ball Metal.
Roger was known for his mechanical skills. He could fix anything that came his way. He enjoyed working on classic cars and tackling various home projects, even if he sometimes didn't finish them. His love for farming was evident, especially when he was on his John Deere tractor.
Roger had a competitive side, which showed in his love for games like euchre, spades, hearts, ping pong, and foosball. His competitive nature was always balanced by his sense of humor and contagious laugh that brightened any room.
Above all, Roger cherished his family. His love for his children and grandsons was immense. His stories, laughter, and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A time to gather and celebrate Roger's life will be 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, 225 W. Findlay St., Carey, Ohio, 43316.
Memorial contributions may be made in Roger's honor to charity of the donor's choice.
