Ruth Johnson Obituary

Ruth E. Johnson

Ruth E. (Hassinger) Johnson, 89, of McCutchenville, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing & Rehab in Upper Sandusky.

Ruth was born January 9, 1936, in Republic, to Floyd and Marian (Ewing) Hassinger. Her mother passed away in 1937 while Ruth was very young, and Ruth was lovingly raised by her dad and June Shock, whom her dad had later married.

On August 31, 1963, Ruth married Donald E. Johnson, and he survives. Other survivors include son, Aaron (Crystal) Johnson of Sycamore; son-in-law, Julius Wurm of Shelby; brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Hassinger of Tiffin; sister, Pattie (Dave) Reichartt of Indiana; and grandchildren, Bryce Johnson, Alexis Johnson, Riley Johnson, and Destiny Robinson.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lynnette Wurm; brothers, Gene Hassinger, Raymond Hassinger, Neil Hassinger, and Billy Hassinger; and sisters, Phyllis Cascaden, Connie Biller, and Nancy Tackett.

Ruth was a 1953 graduate of Columbian High School and attended Olivet College. She worked for 12 years at the women's clinic for Dr. Schwalenberg and Dr. Shananbrook before beginning a long career at Toledo Molding & Die in Carey, where she retired after more than 20 years of service. Ruth also found great joy in babysitting many children for over 30 years, including her own grandchildren. Later, she worked at The Advertiser-Tribune for more than ten years.

Ruth was an active member of Tiffin First Church of the Nazarene since childhood. Throughout her life, she served in many roles within the church, including Sunday school teacher, children's church supervisor, and volunteer for numerous events. She enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, traveling with family, and sharing stories with others. Above all, Ruth cherished time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren, whom she was immensely proud of.

Funeral service honoring Ruth's life will be at noon Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Tiffin First Church of the Nazarene, 777 East Township Road 201, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, with the Rev. Douglas Lillo officiating. Burial will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit with family from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church.
