Alan Karcher

Alan D. Karcher, 87, of Tiffin, died at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.

He was born July 1, 1935, in Sycamore, to John W. and Perle (Debolt) Karcher. He married Leatrice (McKinney) Karcher on May 26, 1956, and she survives in Tiffin.

Alan is also survived by his children, Bruce (Tami) Karcher of Perrysville, Janet (Jeff) Stutz of Danville, Linda (David) Smith of Danville, Lisa (Chuck) Murray of Ashland, and John (Myra) Karcher of Ashland; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Alan was preceded in death by his brother, John Edwin Karcher; three sisters, Jeanna Cover, Faye Brunton, and Nola Dunlap; two stepbrothers, Harold Dunlap and Charles Dunlap; and one grandchild.

Alan worked for 24 years for Mansfield Plumbing Products and 20 years at American Standard, Tiffin, where he retired.

Alan was a member of Plankton United Methodist Church. He was a 1953 graduate of Sycamore High School and President of his class. He took some courses at Ohio State University and then in 1967, he graduated from Lincoln Extension Institute. He was also was a member of Loudonville and Tiffin Lions Clubs for many years where he was very involved in all of their activities and events. He was a member of Tiffin American legion Post # 169. He served his country in U.S. Army National Guard from 1954-1957. He gave blood for the Red Cross for many years and also helped Ned Gregg Auctioneering.

Alan was a very handy man, having built a log home for the family to live in. He also loved to help people, bowl, and go golfing.

Alan's funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
