Berlyn G. Geary

Berlyn G. Geary, 89, of Tiffin, died at 1:34 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023, at home.

He was born May 25, 1934, in Wyandot County, to Roy and Evelyn (Swerline) Geary. He first married Linda (Kentfield) Geary and they later divorced. He then married Kathleen (Huth) Geary and she died Sept. 11, 1975. He then married Janis (Corfman) Geary and she died Dec. 26, 2004.

Berlyn is survived by his children, Kelly Hoover of Westcliffe, Colorado, Julie (Gary) Lescallett of Melmore, Bonnie Ramirez of Tiffin, Cindy Fleck of Findlay, Karen (Richard) Wise of Tiffin, Todd Geary of rural Sycamore, and Kimberly Hurley of Upper Sandusky; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Bonnie Long of rural Sycamore; and brother, Carl (Debbie) Geary of Burlington, Kentucky.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Shaw; son-in-law, James Hurley; grandson, Michael Shaw; and sister, Patty Geary.

Berlyn worked 31 years at General Electric, Tiffin, and farmed for over 50 years. He was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church, member of Sycamore American Legion Post # 250, member of Mohawk Historical Society, trustee for Pleasant View Cemetery Association, member of Indian Mill Antique Tractor Association, member of Car Coddlers Club, Pioneer Auto Club, and Shelman Model A Club, and was a member of a local stockholders club.

He was an U.S. Army veteran, having served his country from 1957-1959, having been stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He also in 2016 was on the Flag City Honor Flight which traveled to Washington, D.C. with other veterans to visit memorials built in their honor.

For hobbies, he loved his antique cars, mowing, fishing, and every morning going to the local gas station to have coffee with his buddies.

Berlyn's funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Sycamore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery where Sycamore American Legion will conduct a military graveside service. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
