Cheryl Ramsay Obituary

Cheryl L. Ramsay

Cheryl Lynn (Aldrich) Ramsay, 66, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, with her family by her side. Cheryl was born March 7, 1958, in Fremont to the late Edward and Marlene (Covert) Aldrich.

Cheryl is survived by her two sons, Corey Turco (Kathryn) and Alex Tobin (Janeill Cooper); grandchild, Sophia Duval; sister, Tracy Burkin; extended family; many dear friends; and a very special cousin, Nicci Moyer. Cheryl was also looking forward to welcoming her new granddaughter (Alex/Janeill) in April.

She was a 1976 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Fremont. After high school, she attended Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and spent many years working in management. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother and raising her boys, Corey and Alex. A champion of many causes, Cheryl spent years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) aiding an organization that helps children entering the welfare system who experienced abuse and neglect. Affectionately known to her colleagues as the "terminator," she was ferocious when defending a child's voice in court.

Though she was small in stature, Cheryl had a huge personality. She was known by all for her great sense of humor and sarcastic, quick wit. She loved art, music, nature, and was known to always have a plan. She enjoyed traveling with close friends and was an avid rock collector. Cheryl had a keen eye for the simple joys in life and expressed them often in her decorations. She always encouraged everyone around her to question authority and to stand and defend oneself.

In 2018, she returned to Tiffin to care for her mother, Marlene, until her passing in 2019. She was employed by Concordance Healthcare Solutions as an accounts receivable specialist. It was at Concordance that she made many of the friends who stuck by her side until the end.

Her remarkable endurance was put on trial as she faced a terminal cancer diagnosis and rapid decline at the end of her life. While we all will miss Cheryl very much, we are glad that she is no longer suffering. This is certainly the time where she'd shoot us that look and tell us all to simply "buck up, dude."

Memorial contribu-tions and dedications in her name can be made to CASA organization (www.nationalcasagal.org) or Heartland Hospice.

A private outdoor memorial for family and friends is being planned for a later date.

My sincere sympathy and prayers to the family. We were friends when we were little girls, and I see her same contagious smile in these photos.
