Dana R. Riedel

Dana R. Riedel, 72, of Sycamore, died at 1:18 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born Dec. 18, 1949, in Tiffin, to Ross and Emma (Steinhilber) Riedel. He married Jean (Long) Riedel on March 13, 1971, and she survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Angela Haake and friend Jesse Detrick of Huntsville, Ohio; son, Montgomery "Monte" (Brooke) Riedel of Kettering; two sisters, Paula (Kirk) Kirkpatrick of Newberry Springs, California, and Anita Wurm of Bucyrus; brother, Van (Cathy) Riedel of Crestline; in-laws, Carl (Deb) Long of rural Tiffin, and Diana Pentony of Tiffin; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many fur baby grandchildren. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Jane Ann and Jill Louise Riedel, in 1972.

Dana was a Mohawk High School music teacher for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He also was owner of Riedel's Piano Service for 49 years.

Dana was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church where he was very active in all the music events at the church, plus other activities associated with the church. He also was music director at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church, rural Tiffin, for 40 years.

Dana was a 1968 graduate of Mohawk High School, 1972 graduate of Heidelberg College, and formerly was working on his masters degree at Bowling Green State University. He was a member of Seneca County Gideons, member of International Piano Tuner's Guild, member of Wyandot County Council of Birth Defects, and was selected to be member of Outstanding Young Men of America.

For hobbies, he loved to play all kinds of music, gave many private music lessons to children, loved all kinds of high school and college sports, and was an avid Ohio State University fan.

Dana's funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, at Harmony United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Padula and the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
