Daniel F. Kearns Jr.

Daniel F. "Dan" Kearns Jr., 62, of Sycamore, died at 5:42 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, in Nevada, Ohio.

He was born March 28, 1961, in Marion, to Daniel F. and Jeanette "Sue" McAlexander Kearns Sr. His father is deceased and his mother survives in Marion. He married Nancy (Lust) Kearns and they later divorced. He then married Aimee (Ames) Kearns on Oct. 10, 1998, and she survives in Sycamore.

Daniel is also survived by his children, Daniel F. (Laurie) Kearns II of Richwood, Ashley (Mike) Dean of Marion, and Blaec (Taylor) Jett of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Silas Kearns, Kaylor McDaniel, Brady Dean, and Dutton Jett; sister, Beverly Best of Chino Hills, California; and brother, John (Melissa) Kearns of Ellerslie, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryan Kearns; and his father.

Dan was an area manager for Wyandot Inc., Marion, having worked 35 years for them. He also earlier in life worked for Issler Farms, Marion, milking cattle and also worked for Bills Farms, Nevada, Ohio.

He attended Sycamore United Methodist Church, was a 1979 graduate of Marion Harding High School, and belonged to Camp 179 3/8 Deer Camp for many years. Dan loved to play softball, work on the farm, go fishing, and camp every weekend at their camping trailer at the local campground. His most favorite thing was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He truly loved them.

Dan's funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2024, at the funeral home.

Worked with Dan at wyandot for almost 9 years . Dan was a good guy always joking and asking how everyone was at work. We talked about sports alot when I worked there especially the browns. RIP Big Dan. Maybe one day the browns will win a superbowl for us .

I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Dan and at Hills with Sue. Your husband dad and son was one of the best men I have ever meet. It was a pleasure to have know him. He was special.
