David Rice

David E. Rice, 78, of Sycamore and formerly of McCutchenville, died at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at home. He was born Nov. 9, 1943, in Bucyrus, to William and Ellen (Durer) Rice. He married Suzanne (Schryer) Rice on May 28, 1966, and she died March 28, 2008.

Surviving are a daughter, Andra (Lance) Meyer of Hudson, Ohio, two grandsons, Mason and Andrew Meyer; sister, Carol Turney of Columbus, Ohio. Later in life, he had a companion, Marilyn Meyer, who he shared many good times with.

David was a retired accountant with Marathon Oil, Findlay, having worked for them over 40 years. He was a 1961 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, graduate of Tiffin University, and member of Trinity United Church of Christ in McCutchenville for many years where he served on many committees like consistory and being an elder and deacon of the church. He also was a former mason, belonging to the former Masonic Lodge in McCutchenville.

For hobbies, he loved to go polka dancing, go to festivals and county fairs, loved going to the Amish Country, exercising at Tiffin YMCA, and especially loved to go and watch his grandchildren play lacrosse, swim, basketball, and band events.

David's funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2022, at Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville, with Pastor Elyse Cramer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
