Larry Schreiner Obituary

Larry A. Schreiner

Larry A. Schreiner, 56, of rural New Riegel, passed away at 12:21 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, at Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital from injuries sustained in a truck accident on State Highway 30 near Mansfield.

Larry was born June 13, 1966, in Tiffin, the son of Edmund P. and Thelma C. (Youngpeter) Schreiner. Anyone who knew Larry would say he was a caring and giving man. In the Spring of 2016, he mustered up the courage to text his future wife, Janice L. Lonsway. They were married Sept. 9, 2017, and had a blast the past five years.

A 1984 graduate of New Riegel High School, Larry spent his entire life doing what he loved which was trucking. Larry started a hay and straw hauling business, Straw Boss Trucking, in 1988. He delivered his goods to the Amish and would return with firewood to sell. Larry recently began working at Tiffin University. When he wasn't working, Larry could be seen cruising on his Honda Goldwing or hauling the pontoon boat, self-proclaimed, "Pontoon Captain," to a lake for some relaxation.

Larry was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel, and Buckeye Wings Chapter A, Findlay.

Larry became a husband, stepfather, and grandfather at the age of 51. He loved every minute of it. Cooking for family gatherings and aggravating his new found grandchildren were two highlights in his new world.

Larry leaves behind his wife, Janice; four stepchildren, Sara Smith of Columbus, Andrew (Cassandra) Smith of Fostoria, Kari (fiancé, Trevor Nippe) of Fostoria, and Cory (Mikayla) Smith of New Riegel; six grandchildren; and five siblings, Mary Jane (Mick) Geesey of Van Wert, Paul (Cindy) Schreiner of Dayton, Tennessee, Sharon (Mike) Reed of Van Wert, Denise (Scott) Douglas of Fostoria, and Sandy Schreiner of Tiffin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Michael "Mikey" Schreiner.

Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022 at All Saints Parish, New Riegel, with Fr. Tim Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, New Riegel.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, 2022, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to F.A.C.T. or All Saints Parish and sent to the funeral home.
