Penny Martinez Obituary
Penny Martinez, 98, of Oak Harbor, passed away Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at Elmwood Assisted Living, Fremont.
Penny was born Dec. 18, 1924, in Nevada, Ohio, to John and Gail (DeJean) William. She married Raymond Platt and he preceded her in death.
Penny's survivors include her children, Randy (Melody) Platt of Florida and Gail (Rick) Bickelhaupt of Oak Harbor; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many other family members and loved ones.
Penny dedicated her life to serving others as an administrator at Riverview Nursing Home and eventually built Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Fostoria and served as administrator for 14 years. She was a devoted member of Grace Baptist Church and former member of Fostoria Country Club. Penny spent her time playing cards and board games with her friends, eating out, and shopping. Her most precious time spent was time with family and friends.
Penny was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pam Bustamante; and brother, Gene Hill.
Visitation for family and friends will be 12 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, until the time of Penny's memorial service at 1 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, Oak Harbor. There will be no burial at this time.
Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, Tiffin, is assisting family with arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church, Oak Harbor.

I worked for Penny at Edgewood Manor starting in 1974. I was the office manager and after Penny retired Marilyn Smith - McCoy was the administrator. She was great person and business woman. We had many good times together.
