Ronald Shore Obituary

Ronald E. "Ron" Shore

Ronald E. "Ron" Shore, 73, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023, at Mercy Health - Tiffin Hospital.

Ron was born Feb. 2, 1950, in Lancaster, one of four children of Alex and Ernestine "Ernie" (Downard) Shore. Growing up, he cherished trips to see family near Detroit, Michigan, especially his cousins, Richard and Jerry Nodel. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1968 and then earned a business degree from Ohio Northern University in 1973.

At Cambridge, Ron met and became high school sweethearts with Darlene McFarland. They were married June 4, 1972, and shared 51 years of marriage. They were members of Temple Israel in Marion for the past 36 years.

Ron began his working career at Woolco in Columbus. He then worked for Ames Dept Store in Connecticut and transferred to their Tiffin location in 1987. He then managed the Tiffin Big Lots stores for 20 years, from 1990 until his retirement in 2010.

An avid golfer, Ron hitting a hole-in-one was a memorable moment for him. He also loved to read, especially a good mystery novel.

Ron had a good heart, an empathetic soul, and was willing to help anyone in need. He generously gave of his time to help his fellow men. He was a friend of Bill W. for 33 years.

Ron will be missed by his wife, Darlene Shore; three children, Aaron (Amanda) Shore, Eric (Tammy) Shore, and Megan Shore; three grandchildren, Ava Shore and Harper and Hadley Schimmoller; brother, Marcus (Rebecca) Shore; two sisters, Marilyn Hunt and Brenda Hart; brother-in-law, Michael McFarland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Suzi Harrington.

Ron's funeral will be 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at Temple Israel, 850 Mt. Vernon Ave., Marion, with Rabbi Dr. Haim O. Rechnitzer officiating.
