Russell Smith Jr.

Russel E. Smith Jr., 71, of rural Bloomville, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.

He was born Dec. 13, 1951, in Bucyrus, to Russell E. and Arlene M. (Crum) Smith Sr., and they preceded him in death.

Russell is survived by his siblings, Joe (Joyce) Smith of rural Bloomville, Chuck (Michelle) Smith of rural Bloomville, Cheryl Smith, of Bucyrus, Arnold (Barb) Smith of Attica, Keith (Lisa) Smith of Attica, Barbara (Ken) Lutz of Attica, Sue (Tim) Stanley of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, and Dave Smith of Attica; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Jordy, an Australian Shephard.

Russell retired from Timken Roller Bearing after 30 years and loved to farm. He was a member of Chatfield Evangelical Church, 1970 graduate of Wynford High School, member of Crawford County Farm Bureau, member of Odd Fellows Lodge # 174, Melmore, and member of NRA.

For hobbies, Russell loved to plant a garden, raise chickens, and give the eggs away to people throughout the neighborhood.

Russell's funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Larry Bertsch officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
