Yvonne Brown Obituary

Yvonne "Joan" Brown

Yvonne "Joan" Brown, 85, of Tiffin, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, loyal friend and child of God, passed away Friday morning, July 11, 2025, in Upper Sandusky.

She was born to Daniel and Mary (Homler) Swander April 20, 1940, in Bellevue. She married Ronald E. Brown, the love of her life, February 8, 1959, at United Brethren Church in Bloomville. He preceded her in death February 20, 2011.

Joan is survived by four daughters, Rhonda (Kent) Margraf of Cardington, Tammy Smith of Tiffin, Terri (John) Hampshire of Bloomville, and Lesa (Rusty) Latona of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, Olivia (Ben Posta) Margraf, Lauren (Chris) Wickert, Kaitlyn (Neil Milligan) Smith, Tarah Hacker, Jacob Hacker, Dominic Latona, and Anna Latona; five great grandchildren, Silas, Dean, Judah, and Levi Wickert, and Caleb Posta; two sisters, Wanda Clark of Upper Sandusky and Carol Warnick of Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years; five brothers; and five sisters.

Joan was a 1959 graduate of Bloomville High School. She was a member of Christ's Church at Tiffin for 25 years and a former member of First Christian Church. She served as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, VBS volunteer and sang in the choir for many years. She was very active throughout her life, a founding member of Women's Act of Tiffin, Girl Scout and 4-H advisor, and a Tiffin T-Squares member. She enjoyed camping and the outdoors, sewing as a seamstress for Sears and making dance outfits for Tiffin T-Squares dances.

She worked at Tiffin Glass and Mirror, where she used her artistic skills. She loved to paint and cross-stitch, making many pieces for her friends and family. She worked for Tiffin City Schools as an aide, where her students were very special to her heart. In 2013, she began working for Comfort Keepers and made some very dear friends throughout the years.

In 2014, through much faith, treatment and a very brave fight with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, she remained in remission for the rest of her life. She gave God all the glory for getting her through.

Joan competed in Sweet Adeline's Pride of Toledo Chorus, where she could dress glamorously, flash her big smile, sing at the top of her lungs and travel the United States. She was proud of her accomplishments and loved the competition. Her beautiful soul left a stamp on this earth through loving many and her generous spirit.

Friends may visit with family from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Christ's Church of Tiffin. I am so sorry to hear this news. I knew Joan and Ron many years ago from dancing with T Squares. They were both such nice, friendly people. God bless Joan, Ron and the whole family.
